REAL ESTATE AUTHORITY (REA)
The purpose of the REA is to promote and protect the interests of consumers buying and selling real estate, and to promote public confidence in the performance of real estate agency work.
What they do
Their job is to promote a high standard of service and professionalism in the real estate industry and help protect buyers and sellers of property.
Provide independent information for people who are buying and selling property through our settled.govt.nz website.
Provide advice and guidance for real estate professionals and deal with complaints about real estate professionals' behaviour.
License people and companies working in the real estate industry.
Maintain a Code of Conduct setting out the professional standards real estate professionals must follow.
Maintain a public register of real estate professionals that includes information about disciplinary action taken in the last 3 years.
The Real Estate Agents Authority is a Crown entity, established under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008. The Real Estate Authority is the operating name of the Real Estate Agents Authority.
Complaints Procedure
Oliver Road is committed to providing exceptional service. We are required by law to hold and make available a written complaints procedure which is outlined below. Rest assured, in the unlikely event that you do find yourself making a complaint, we will do everything possible to resolve it in a prompt and professional manner.
Procedure:
If you feel your complaint is of a minor nature, specific to a one-off event that does not require any further action, please direct your complaint to the salesperson involved. Our company policy states that salespeople must report any complaint received to their manager.
If your complaint is of a more serious nature, requiring attention and rectification of a problem, please immediately contact Oliver Road’s principal licensee, Cameron Winter at 021 800 889 or cameron@oliverroad.co.nz. It is best to write an email however please feel free to call him as well. Be sure to include details of the salesperson involved, the address of the property (if applicable), and an explanation of what has taken place and the reason/s for your dissatisfaction.
Your complaint will be responded to in writing within 48 hours of receipt, and we will subsequently do everything possible to rectify the situation.
If, having followed the procedure above you are dissatisfied with the outcome within a reasonable timeframe, you may contact the Real Estate Authority by visiting their website https://www.rea.govt.nz and following their procedure. You are not required to follow the above procedure prior to contacting the Real Estate Authority, however, we appreciate the opportunity to rectify any issue prior to involving the Authority.

During the course of business, we may collect personal information from you, including your name & identity, contact information, and property ownership records
We collect your personal information in order to verify property ownership, ensure we are acting on behalf of the correct people, and to contact you in relation to the work we are doing for you
Besides our staff, we share this information with First AML Limited in order to have them conduct customer due diligence (as required by law) on our behalf.
Unfortunately, if you choose not to provide us with correct identity details, we'll be unable by law to provide real estate agency services to you. We keep your information safe by storing it securely using two-factor authentication and encryption where possible.
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
